Buying from us
Terms and conditions
The terms on which you may use our website and buy from us. Please read them before placing an order.
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of the Doncaster Refurnish website and to any items you buy from us. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them.
We are Doncaster Refurnish, a registered charity (No. 1118160) and social enterprise, with our registered office at Unit 15 Hutton Business Park, Hangthwaite Road, Doncaster DN6 7BD. You can contact us at info@refurnish.co.uk or 01302 337 606.
Using our website
You may use this website for lawful purposes only, and not in any way that damages it or interferes with anyone else's use of it. The content, branding and design of the site belong to Doncaster Refurnish or our licensors and are protected by law.
We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors.
Our items
Much of what we sell is donated and one-of-a-kind, so items are sold as seen. We describe each piece as accurately as we can, including its condition, and we clean and safety-check items before sale. Electrical items are PAT tested and upholstered items carry a valid fire-safety label before we offer them.
Photographs are of the actual item wherever possible; small variations in colour or finish can occur between screens and real life.
Availability and pricing
We sell across our shops and online from a single pool of stock, so a unique item is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell in store or online. When you add a unique item to your basket we hold it for a short reservation period so you can check out; if that lapses it returns to sale.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any applicable taxes. We take care to price correctly, but if we spot a genuine error we'll let you know before your order is confirmed and you can choose to go ahead at the right price or cancel.
Your order and our contract
When you place an order you are making an offer to buy. We'll send an acknowledgement by email; a contract between us is formed when we confirm that your order is accepted and ready. If we can't fulfil an order (for example, because an item has just sold), we'll tell you and refund any payment in full.
Payment
Payment is taken securely through our payment provider using their hosted card fields. We never see or store your card details. Your card is charged when your order is confirmed.
Collection and delivery
You can collect from our Carcroft or Dunscroft shop, or arrange local delivery where available. We'll agree the arrangements with you after you order and give you a timescale. Risk in an item passes to you when it is delivered or collected.
Cancellations, returns and refunds
We give you 30 days from receiving your item to change your mind and return it for a refund. That is our own promise to you, and it is longer than the 14-day right you have by law under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 when you buy online as a consumer. Those statutory rights stand alongside it and are not affected.
Please contact us first so we can arrange the return; as our items are often large and one-of-a-kind, we'll agree the most practical way to get it back to us. Refunds are made to your original payment method once we've received the item.
Separately, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights if an item is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose, including a refund, repair or replacement. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, but not for anything unforeseeable.
Events outside our control
We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If one happens, we'll contact you as soon as we can and work with you to reschedule.
Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If something has gone wrong, please contact us at info@refurnish.co.uk and we'll always try to put it right.
Questions about any of this?
We're a local charity, not a call centre. If anything on this page is unclear, ask us and we'll explain it in plain terms.
