Your rights under UK GDPR
Data protection and your rights
A plain-English guide to the rights you have over your information, and how to use them.
Your rights at a glance
The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 give you rights over the personal information organisations hold about you. At Doncaster Refurnish you have the right to:
- be informed about how we use your information, as set out in our privacy notice;
- access the information we hold about you (a “subject access request”);
- have inaccurate information corrected, and incomplete information completed;
- have your information erased where there's no good reason for us to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use your information in certain circumstances;
- data portability: receive certain information in a reusable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Who is responsible for your data
Doncaster Refurnish (registered charity No. 1118160), of Unit 15 Hutton Business Park, Hangthwaite Road, Doncaster DN6 7BD, is the data controller. For any question about your information or to exercise a right, contact us at info@refurnish.co.uk or 01302 337 606, marking your message for the attention of our data protection contact.
How to make a request
Just get in touch and tell us what you'd like to do. To protect your information, we may ask you to confirm your identity. We'll respond within one month; if a request is especially complex we may need longer, and we'll let you know. Making a request is normally free.
Automated decisions and profiling
We do not make decisions about you by purely automated means, and we do not carry out profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Where your information is held
We aim to keep your information within the UK and the European Economic Area. If any of our service providers process it elsewhere, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.
Concerns and the ICO
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk, on 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Questions about any of this?
We're a local charity, not a call centre. If anything on this page is unclear, ask us and we'll explain it in plain terms.
