Bringing joy to children at Christmas
The Spirit of Christmas initiative exists to make sure every child has the chance to feel the joy, excitement and warmth the festive season can bring. For some families, Christmas is a financially difficult time, and gifts or celebrations are not always possible. So each December we work with community organisations, supporters and local donors to help make sure children from families facing hardship still get to enjoy a special Christmas. The aim is simple: every child should feel remembered, valued and included.
Supporting families through the festive season
Christmas can add extra pressure to households already managing a tight budget. Each December, the Spirit of Christmas initiative helps ease some of that pressure by providing gifts and festive support for children whose families are experiencing financial difficulty. Working with local referral organisations and community groups, we identify families who would benefit from extra support, then prepare and distribute gifts so children have something special to open on Christmas Day, creating moments of joy for children while giving reassurance to parents and carers.
Creating positive memories for children
For many children, Christmas memories last a lifetime. Receiving a gift, joining in festive celebrations and simply feeling included can make a real difference to how a child feels about themselves and where they belong. Each December, the Spirit of Christmas initiative works to create exactly those moments, so children experience the excitement and magic the festive season can bring, helping build positive experiences that families can share and remember together.
