A supportive place to learn
Doncaster Refurnish offers a welcoming environment where people can learn through practical experience. Volunteers and trainees work alongside experienced staff, gaining guidance and support as they develop new skills and confidence, supported at their own pace, in a space where people feel valued and capable.

Hands-on, practical skills
Through day-to-day activities you can gain experience across a real range of practical areas: furniture repair and restoration, upholstery and refurbishment, preparation and quality checking, warehouse operations and stock management, retail and customer service, and safe handling and logistics. These are hands-on, transferable skills that apply well beyond our workshop and shop floor.

Building confidence, one shift at a time
For many people, volunteering is an important step toward rebuilding confidence and establishing a routine, whether returning to work after a break, exploring new career options, or simply wanting to connect with the community. Along the way, people often build increased confidence and self-belief, stronger teamwork and communication, real workplace experience and a genuine sense of purpose.

A pathway toward employment
The experience gained through volunteering and training can play an important role in progressing into employment. Many people use the skills and experience they build with us to strengthen their CV, develop references and prepare for future job opportunities, taking meaningful, structured steps towards sustainable, long-term work.

Working alongside community partners
We work closely with community organisations, support services and employment programmes to make sure volunteering and training opportunities are accessible to a wide range of people, including those who may face barriers to employment. Working collaboratively lets us offer opportunities that benefit both individuals and the wider community.

What support looks like
Every volunteer and trainee is supported to learn at their own pace, in a positive and encouraging environment.
Learn at your own pace
Nobody is expected to run before they can walk. You build skills and confidence gradually, with the pace set by you.
Guidance from experienced staff
You will always be working alongside experienced team members who are there to show you the ropes and help when you need it.
A positive, encouraging environment
We focus on creating a space where people feel valued and capable, whatever their starting point or background.
No experience needed
Every role welcomes people new to the work. What matters is a willingness to learn and get involved.
