Work Experience

Refurnish provides a supportive and friendly working environment for volunteers, for a few hours a week or full days by agreement. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, e.g. people who have recently retired, who are recovering from mental illness or who require some support in order to develop or regain work skills. The contribution of volunteers is valued in all areas of the organisation. Opportunities include:

  • Repairing and restoring furniture
  • Cleaning furniture and appliances
  • Assisting drivers
  • Dismantling appliances for spare parts
  • Assisting in the warehouse

Work Placements

Refurnish works with partner organisations to provide work placements for people who want to gain paid employment. Without basic skills such as time management and team working, it can be difficult for disadvantaged people to find and stay in work. Refurnish provides this experience and also provides formal training courses leading to recognised qualifications..
